Located just 29 miles north of Asheville, North Carolina.
Approx. 35 minutes from downtown Asheville
Approx. 40 miles from Johnson City, TN

If coming into the Asheville area from I - 40 and /or traveling west on I - 26 (aka 19 / 23)
NOTICE : I - 26 and the 240 bypass in Asheville, run together for a few miles and the mile markers have confused several guests. The exit # 3 on I - 26 you need is almost at the TN state line. NOT the exit # 3 in downtown Asheville!

The closest address that I can find and shows on MapQuest, is for a currently closed General Store

It should get you close to where you turn up the very steep, Wolf Ridge Road.

From the North:
I-26 East to Exit #3. Wolf Laurel Exit. Make a left turn onto Bear Branch Road.
Make a right turn at stop sign onto Hwy. 23-A. Go about 1.5 miles. Make the first left turn onto Laurel Valley Road. Make the first left onto Puncheon Fork Road (at Methodist Church).
Almost 3 miles ( just before Wolf Laurel Road ) make a right turn onto Wolf Ridge Road - Up Wolf Ridge Road up the hill to Breakaway Village entrance on left. Through the ski lift area and up the hill. (see below)

From the South:

OK Folks ...we are high in the mountains! Do NOT plan to drive your Corvette!!!
(..or other low riding cars)
Usually most cars do not have a problem with the road. Paved until you enter Breakaway.
( partially paved, but mostly gravel and slightly steep, once you are in the subdivision.
Front wheel drive cars do better than rear wheel drives.

We are nearly 4000 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
A steep drive is needed for the experience and views!
